ÉÙ¸¾×ÔÅÄ RC08 Online Seminar: The Korean Parliament against Emergency Power Abuse

±õ±Ê³§´¡â€™s Research Committee (RC08) on Legislative Specialists hosted an online seminar titled The Korean Parliament Against Emergency Power Abuse on 10 March 2025. The event started with a presentation by Prof. Jeong-In Yun (Korea University, South Korea) an expert in constitutional law. Prof. Yun Prof. Yun examined the role of the Korean Parliament in addressing the recent political crisis in South Korea. 

During her presentation, she provided an overview of the country’s presidential democracy and discussed the political landscape leading up to the crisis. She also analyzed the implications of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law in December 2024 and the Korean Parliament’s response, including the vote to lift martial law.

Following the presentation, RC08 Vice-Chair Prof. Sven T. Siefken (Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences, Germany) moderated a Q&A session.
